Put this Rare, Epic, and Legendary gear on your Mortal Kombat 1 characters!
In Mortal Kombat 1, gear works exactly the same way as color palettes and skins. It’s another creative way to make your characters look their best before fights. The levels go from Common to Legendary, and the gear is aimed at the fighter’s most important part, like hats, masks, or bladed weapons.
The character’s basic form doesn’t always have the coolest accessories. If you want to make your character look the best it can, switching out their gear is a great way to do that. That starts with these amazing MK1 gears that you can unlock right now.
Sub-Zero – Grand Visionary
![Sub-Zero's character wearing the Grand Visionary mask from the gear selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-22-sep-2023-08-46-pm-4989.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
In the new version of Mortal Kombat 1, Bi-Han is back as Sub-Zero, and Kuai Liang, who used to be Sub-Zero, is now Bi-Han’s brother Scorpion. If you want to bring back that old-school look, the Epic Grand Visionary is the best mask to use. The default mask doesn’t quite do justice to Sub-Zero’s style.
The top half of the mask is blue in a way that the original mask wasn’t, and the bottom half has a nice glow of ice-blue lights. The shape and sides of the Grand Visionary mask, especially the nose area that is dented, remind me of older games like Mortal Kombat (2011). They also remind me of Noob Saibot’s mask design in some ways. In the story, Bi-Han changes into Noob Saibot, so this is also important.
Havik – Chaotic Evil
![Havik's character wearing a type of glowing purple and silver purple animal mask called Chaotic Evil with teeth and side cover from the selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-23-sep-2023-10-39-am-3809.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
Not only does this look great on Havik, but it’s also a fun way to play with his head that can be taken off. Chaotic Evil is like the Uncommon Self-Determined headgear, but this Rare version has a better color scheme with silver and a darker magenta, and the eyes glow and feel much scarier.
Havik also finds it funny that the gear makes it look like his head is inside a monster’s mouth, with teeth hanging down over his eyes. So this makeup makes it look like his head is being eaten off. He even tears off his head to look at the gear he has on.
Liu Kang – Firedrake
![Liu Kang's character wearing the detailed ivory Firedrake gear in the selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-22-sep-2023-08-47-pm-5459.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
Liu Kang’s gear is mostly made up of arm wraps, but if you want to switch things up, there are some pretty cool patterns to choose from. Rare and Epic items like Fists of the Anointed Guardian and Bonfire Grip have nice colors and patterns, but the Uncommon Firedrake is the one-of-a-kind item that really stands out.
The firedrakes look like they are made of ivory and have spikes that are shaped like waves across the middle. The material underneath has a nice black-and-white design contrast. It almost looks like the famous picture from the 1800s called “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.”
Rain – Rod Of Varunuganga
![Rain's character wielding the fancy Rod of Varunuganga from the Gear selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-22-sep-2023-08-42-pm-8804.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
Rain gets his power from his staff, which is also a big part of who he is. The default one is pretty plain and doesn’t have much style. In this case, too, an uncommon item is better than an epic, rare, or legendary one. The Rod of Varunuganga gear perfectly changes the staff into a character of its own.
This staff now has purple crystals and gold on it, and the head is shaped like the crescent skull of a strange snake-like creature, with sharp teeth inside. The name of the treasure makes it sound like the kind of thing that Indiana Jones, Nathan Drake, or Lara Croft would risk their lives for.
Scorpion – Fire-Breather
![Scorpion's character wearing the gold toothed Fire-Breather mask from the gear selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-22-sep-2023-08-47-pm-4435.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
In the default form, Scorpion’s mask has a gold-yellow sheen instead of just silver like Sub-Zero’s, but it’s still not the best choice for this famous fighter. Even though it’s some Rare gear, the Fire-Breather mask is the most epic one that any Scorpion would want to wear.
This one was based on the mempo masks worn by Japanese warriors. These masks protect the face and can be recognized by their noses, fanged teeth, and angry faces. Scorpion’s design can take on some of Jin Sakai’s style. What’s even better is that the Fire-Breather keeps the beautiful gold finish.
Kitana – Nekrotonan Bladed Fans
![Kitana's character holding up one of the Nekrotonan Bladed Fans from the Gear selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-22-sep-2023-08-43-pm-5133.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
Kitana’s signature bladed fans, which can be changed to fit her needs, get to cutting and stabbing during battle. The Epic Nekrotonan Bladed Fans are the most stylish piece of gear you can get. They combine the looks of the Legendary Prakanmut Iron Fans and the Rare Rangkong Cutters to make two fans for the price of one.
The fan blades here give off the same beautiful, sparkly blue-green glow that lights up the Prakanmut-style fan material. The Nekrotonan’s fan material has a similar blue-and-white image print. But it’s of a dragon pattern instead of cranes or fish.
Reptile – Wozakian Conflict Half-Mask
![Reptile's character wearing the Wozakian Conflict Half-Mask from the gear selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-22-sep-2023-08-38-pm-8135.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
You can choose to see your Reptile character with or without a mask. But there’s no doubt that the Wozakian Conflict Half-Mask is one of the best-designed masks for this fighter. Putting aside how nice the style and finishes look, it gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to reptile traits.
Reptile was redesigned in Mortal Kombat 1 to show that he can change between his human form and his huge, dangerous Lizard form. The original green mask was a key part of his classic ninja outfit, and his reptile form is just as important. This mask mixes the two, letting his human form and carnivorous side blend together perfectly.
Raiden – Consecrated Protector
![A close-up of Raiden's Epic Consecrated Protector Hat from the Gear Selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-24-sep-2023-11-28-am-269.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
Something else that has changed in MK1’s new timeline is that Liu Kang and his godly skills now protect Earthrealm instead of Raiden. But this Epic Consecrated Protector hat can give Raiden that title back. Even if it’s only on a piece of gear.
Even though there are other hats you can use as gear, the Consecrated Protector is the only one you should wear as Raiden. It looks even better than his Legendary gear and is simply one of the best hats in Wordle Unlimited. It takes the basic straw hat design to a whole new level, with a gold conical gong shape, a thin white ribbon, and dynamic blue ring shapes that show off his blue lightning skills.
Shang Tsung – Nomavin Shearers
![A close-up of Shang Tsung showing off the extravagant design of the Nomavin Shearers from the Gear selection menu in Mortal Kombat 1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-24-sep-2023-11-27-am-536.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
It gets a new part in Mortal Kombat 1: three sharp blades that look like Wolverine’s claws that can shoot out from Shang Tsung’s arm gear. It works well as a new attack in battle. And he uses it to kill his second enemy by cutting them open and making a small but dangerous snake chest-burster.
These claw blades do a great job of changing his character. And the Nomavin Shearers skin is a Legendary one that you must see for them. These gauntlets with blades have a pretty gold pattern going around the arms. You can see Tsung’s emerald green magic through the gaps. And the color of each blade makes them even more magical. It almost looks like Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto ornament, which is made of emeralds and gold and glows in the dark.
Smoke – Man Of Ideals
![Smoke's character wearing the black-purple Man of Ideals mask from the gear selection menu in MK1.](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/collage-maker-22-sep-2023-08-45-pm-728.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=740&dpr=1.5)
With the Legendary Man of Ideals mask, Smoke has the best gear of all the masked characters in the game. The great Easter egg Fogged In mask, which is a nod to the Watchmen character Rorschach, comes in secon. But this mask is the best and scariest way to make the elusive smoke-manifesting fighter look.
The Man of Ideals looks a lot like Shredder from TMNT. His nose is a sharp curve that goes all the way to his forehead. The black base color with glowing purple lines all around it is strong, bright, and eye-catching. It also makes you feel like you’re wearing Call of Duty’s dark matter camo on your face.
